03 - The Kill

Chapter 01

His mirror image was looking back at him. He couldn't stand the disappointing gaze anymore. Everything told him this was not who he was.

"What would happen if I wanted to stop and break away from you?" he though, a smirk forming on his handsome face. "What would you do as I stand here laughing at how pathetic you've become?"

He felt like he couldn't do this anymore, he was tired and just wanted to fall down, screaming. He was fed up with this image that he didn't recognize smirking back at him.

Confidence flowed through him. He was going to bury this part of him. He was done with him.

He couldn't continue begging for his life. A life he really wanted, not this… He wasn't this. He was fed up with fighting. Fighting himself, fighting the person he was becoming but didn't want to become.

He keeps telling himself he wanted more but that never happened. "What are you waiting for?" a voice tells him, recognizing it was the mirror image talking to him, challenging him to run and hide.

"No," he said, firmly. "I am not running from you. Not now not ever again…"

Once more, confidence flowed through him. He knew now what he was going to do. He was going to bury that part of him. That part he resented so much. He was over, done with it. For the last time he looked at the image he long loathed and looked into the eyes that mirrored his own. "Can't you see what you are doing to me? Can't you see that you are killing me? Well, no more. I am finished with you!"

"Yes," he thought, "I am making the right choice."

After he made up his mind he started tearing his clothes. The expensive Armani suit was ripped and the sound it made sounded like music to his ears.

"I tried to be someone I'm not. But what difference did it make? It did not make me happy. Yes, I know who I am now…" One last time he looked into the mirror but did not find the disapproving face looking at him but someone he recognized. "This is my chance, my chance to be happy. Yes, this is who I really am…"

For a split moment the arrogant look of his other self appeared but it was quickly replaced with a smirk of his own. "You don't own me anymore I have buried you. I don't want you back. I am finished with you. So, leave my side and never come back for this is who I am!"
