Archie opened the front door of his apartment and walked inside, closing the door behind him. He pulled off his jacket then hung it up on the coat stand. He took off his shoes, shoved them aside and walked into the kitchen. After taking the juice out of the refrigerator he poured himself some juice. Once he had downed the juice, he sauntered off to the bathroom to take out his contacts. He undressed and took a shower, once he changed himself in some clean boxers and a clean t-shirt he walked into the bedroom. He smiled seeing the figure on the bed, still asleep.
He softly walked over to his side of the bed and pulled the covers back so he could lay under it. Once he was laying down in bed he turned to his girlfriend; Li Mei. Archie looked at her and smiled seeing she snuggled closer to him. He let out a content sigh as his eyes started to drift around the room just as his thoughts drifted back to the case he had been working on earlier.
A young girl and her grandmother had been kidnapped taken from the parking lot. The poor grandmother had been killed in front of the young girl. Archie had seen all of it; it had been taped by the parking lot security cameras.
His gaze drifted back to Li Mei. It didn't matter how bad things got, he knew he'd always return to her. You are my safest place to hide. He traced her face with his fingers. He looked at her as if he was trying to place her into his memory.
It has been 5 years since they've been together and still his heart beats faster when he sees her. It was already hard for him to imagine his life without her. Sometimes it was even hard to breathe when she was not near. You are my life.
Archie smiled remembering the first time he had seen her. It was in the park and she had smiled at him. He remembered his knees got weak just by seeing her smile.
Every day his love bloomed for her more and more. She is the only love I have ever known and will ever know. His arms went around her and held her close. “How I love you…” he whispered to her sleeping form. Li Mei smiled in her sleep as if she had heard him.
Archie smiled as well and placed a kiss on top of her head. He saw how she stirred in her sleep but did not wake up. He lay closer to her and kissed her softly on her cheek. A smile formed on her face and she snuggled closer to him. His arms found their way around her body as he held the figure of his sleeping girlfriend. “I love you,” he whispered and not long after he fell asleep.
