Reunited Chapter 01
"Is this a bad time?" Chris asked walking in on the sisters having a conversation. He saw Piper turning to him, a look of shock on her face and he knew, right then, that Paige and Phoebe had told her he was her son. He groaned inwardly, he had not wanted Piper to find out he was her son. "I can come back later," he said softly, not wanting to impose and wanting to get out of the shocked look Piper was still giving him.
"You're my son?" Piper asked, amazed. Unconsciously her hands travelled to her lower stomach, gently rubbing it. "My son…" Even though Piper was confused she knew right then that Chris was indeed her son. His eyes were that of Leo but the rest of his face where hers; the same colour hair, the same cheekbones, hell they even shared the same nose.
"Uhm… I'm sorry," Chris half stated, half asked. He did not know what else to say, and felt like a 5 year old child again under his mothers gaze.
Piper realized that her actions was making him uncomfortable, probably even unwanted and she took another step toward him so she was standing in front of him now.
Mother and son looked into each other's eyes and for a minute neither spoke nor moved. Until Piper wrapped her arms around him and hugged him close.
Chris' feelings were all mixed up. How he had yearned to feel his mother's embrace again, how he longed to be in her arms just once more. And here he was! In his mother's arms, just as he had wanted for so long. Yet, a voice in the back of his head told him to stay away from her. Not get close. Why bother? He'd lose her anyway should he go back to the future.
Phoebe and Paige left the room, giving mother and son the time and space they needed now that they had found each other.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Piper asked when they pulled away.
"Future consequences," Chris automatically answered. Although it was hard for him to lie to his mother, he just couldn't tell her the real reason why he didn't tell her. He hadn't wanted her to find out, because in his future she's gone and should he go back it would be without her. He couldn't handle losing her twice!
"You and your ‘future consequences'" Piper smiled as she gently shook her head.
"I…uh… I'm sorry," Chris said again, lost for words.
"Oh God," Piper suddenly exclaimed as something dawned on her. "I've been so harsh to you. How could I do that against my own son?"
"You didn't know…" Chris began but was cut off by his mother.
"That is no excuse. I should've known. I should have seen the resembles. I…"
"Mom, please," The young man began. "It's alright. I haven't been the perfect son either."
"I know! I just feel bad about how I've treated you. It is not how a mother should treat her son," Piper went to sit down on the small couch, "Let's start anew, shall we?"
"I'd like that," Chris replied and took his mother hands in his own when she reached out to him.
Piper pulled her son down next to her and indulged him in a big hug. Both stayed like that. They did not notice or care that the world around them went on for both were content staying in each others arms. They did not speak, nor did they move, they just stayed like this – being content…
